Kathmandu valley rim trek is perfct for those who looking for a taste of trekking in Nepal
The Kathmandu valley offers some excellent short treks, fine walks which can be a great introduction to trekking. Once outside the urban sprawl of the city, it is possible to experience traditional rural activities with in sight of the metropolis.
A rich cultural experience along with the excellent mountain views, as Kathmandu valley is always sarrounded by high Himalayas such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gauri Shanker and Droje Lakpa all above 7000 mtrs high.
Kathmandu Valley Rim is the most fascinating short trek for those who wish to have a tented camping trekking experience on the background of Himalayas in limited time for Nepal holiday. Earthbound Expeditions has designed this trekking around Kathmandu valley route especially for family groups with children, as it is a leisurely walk in beautiful vicinity with enough opportunity to understand the local people, their villages, culture and lifestyle. This valley rim trek offers 180 -degree mountain views stretching from far west Annapurna range to east Everest. It also offers a rich insight in to the lives, history, culture and religion together with the picturesque daily toil in the fields of its inhabitant. The valley rim lies between 1800m and 2800m and in spring offers early flowering rhododendrons. In autumn and winter there are wonderful mountains vistas, which can, form certain viewpoints, stretch from Everest in the east to Annapurna in the west. when you will arrive Nagarkot it offers spectacular Mountain View as well as a panoramic view of Kathmandu valley.
The short trek can be combined with the 2 night 3 days Chitwan Jungle Safari where you will track the rare Royal Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceroses, slot bear, crocodile and many other species of birds and animals, which will enchant as you explore this pristine Jungle area.
This trek can be extended to Namobuddha, Panuti or even Balthali.
Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu
A representative and driver from our office will meet and greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel and help you check into your designated hotel. We will arrange a meeting with you at hotel to brief you about your daily activities etc.
Day 02: Sight-seeing of Kathmandu
Leave for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Back to hotel and stay.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani
After breakfast, a short drive to Sundarijal. from here the valley rim trek starts , the trail climbs steeply past Tamang villages and on through rhododendron forest to Chisopani. Excellent views over the whole Himalayan range from Manaslu, Ganesh Himal to Everest.Midhill mountains and valley of Helambu in a clera day!
04: Chisopani to Nagarkot
To day we hike about 6 - 7 hours. Walk between the village and forest of Shivapuri, continue our journey to Nagarkot 2775m above the sea- level. This spot provides an excellent view of the sunset, sunrise and Mount Everest can be seen on a clear day including other 12 peaks. Overnight stay in a Nagarkot.
Day 05: Nagarkot to Dhulikhel
We will awake early to watch the spectacular dawn. The first rays of the sun firing the peaks a lightest red slowly lighting up the Himalayas from Everest range in the far East of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the West. After breakfast Walk down to Dhulikhel for overnight stay.
Day 06: Dhulikhel – Kathmandu
we’ll drive back to Kathmandu Overnight in Kathmandu and join a cultural show and dinner
Day 07: Transfer to the airport
Our driver and airport representative will drive you to the airport in time for your flight back home. We ensure that you leave Kathmandu with cherishing memory and an experience of a lifetime. Namaste!
